LANCASTER CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING PROCEEDINGS
The Lancaster City Council met for a Special Meeting to appoint a Fire Chief on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at 7:00 P.M. in the Lancaster Community Center. The meeting was moved into the center from the city hall due to the large numbers of public present. Council persons present were Mayor, Michael Olson; council members John Stenquist, Jim Hilman, Mary Barron and Luke Nordin.
Also present was City Attorney, George Hanson, Kittson County Sheriff, Kenny Hultgren, DNR Representative, Adam Munstengier, members of the Lancaster Fire Department and approximately 65 other people.
The Mayor opened the meeting and welcomed all who were present he also stated that the purpose of the meeting is to appoint a fire chief. Mayor Olson stated that any persons wishing to ask questions or make a statement should limit their time to 2 minutes. Mayor Olson opened the meeting to the public present for a comment or question time. Various attendees asked questions of the council and the Kittson County Sheriff and Mr. Munstengier.
Mayor Olson closed the public discussion period when all who had wished to address the council or any other persons had done so.
Mayor Olson then reported that a current fireman, Keith Schmiedeberg, who has served 16 years as a Lancaster Fireman is willing to be the Lancaster Fire Department Chief. Nordin moved to appoint Schmiedeberg effective immediately, second by Barron and carried with all voting in favor.
